I grew up dreaming of being a cowboy and loving the cowboy way. I cowboy'ed in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico and rodeo'ed and performed for several years in several states.

Folks used to tell me I should quit busting broncs and working horseback and go to Nashville. In 1970, I made the move and signed with Contention Music within days.

Two of my first demos were recorded by Ed Bruce, writer of "Mommas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." I lived in Nashville for several years and was a SESAC award winning songwriter in 1974, 1975 and 1976.

Now with ASCAP and plenty of background that provides material for my Texas cowboy and outlaw country. My original songs have been recorded by major artists on major labels and Grand Old Opry members and charted in Billboards top 40.

I'm now living in my home state of Texas, in Abilene, not far from the infamous Bend in the Brazos at the foot of the old haunted Fort called Phantom Hill on the Butterfield Trail. I like to think of myself as a story-telling cowboy poet and performer.

Yee-Haw!
